Drivers are bespoke weapon upgrades that can change how a weapon works. The full release contains 50, and the developer says that leveling a particular weapon gives you more opportunities to upgrade it in these ways. That is the confirmed progression relationship; it does not establish one universal unlock level for every Driver. See the release announcement.

Follow the weapon, not a generic level number

  1. Identify the weapon you are upgrading.
  2. Raise that weapon's level as opportunities arise during the run.
  3. Read a Driver's actual change when offered. The purpose is a behavior change rather than assuming every option is a simple stat increase.
  4. Compare it with your current setup and the problem you are trying to solve.

This is a reading and decision checklist based on the announced system, not a guaranteed sequence of offers. We do not promise that a named Driver appears at a particular level or in a particular order.

Driver, Plugin or meta upgrade?

TermConfirmed roleDo not confuse it with
DriverBespoke change to weapon behaviorA universal weapon fusion recipe
PluginModification to weapons or player statsThe weapon-level Driver system
Meta upgradePart of the game's meta progressionA specific Driver unlock requirement

The store page separately lists 50 Drivers, 62 Plugins and 18 meta upgrades. These counts describe the release's systems; they are not a purchase or unlock order.

If an old guide describes weapon evolutions

A developer response from June discussed Drivers as a planned full-release feature. The later release announcement is the better basis for the shipped system. Neither the word evolution nor comparisons with another survivor game prove that combining two weapons creates a third.

Use a Driver's in-game description to make the immediate choice. If you are looking for a precise list of all Drivers, a best-Driver ranking or a guaranteed unlock threshold, this guide does not claim those have been verified.
